All performers will be offered a stipend of $200.00.

To Audition

When you submit for an audition appointment, you will be prompted to submit your performance resume as well as your head shot or another good photo of yourself.

We prefer that you audition with a song or aria in English, but other languages are acceptable.  Your selection may be an opera or operetta piece, a show tune, etc.  No pop or rock music please.

An accompanist will be provided.  We strongly recommend that all those auditioning prepare an accompanied piece rather than something unaccompanied.

You do not need to prepare a monologue.  The Directors may provide you with sides during your audition.  If they do so, you will rehearse the sides privately with others who are auditioning and then present to the Directors.

Call Backs

Most of those being considered for a named role in the production will be asked to return to Call Backs, which will be held on the Monday, June 20th starting at 8:00 pm.  You will be notified via email on Sunday, June 19th, after auditions have been completed, if you are being called back.

You will be notified for which role or roles you’ll be asked to read and sing.  Sides will be provided at Call Backs.  The music and sides that will be used for specific roles will be available on this page in the near future.

Rehearsals are held in Minneapolis, from Tuesday, September 8, 2022, to Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Rehearsals will be held in Minneapolis, from Monday October 31, 2022, to the Thursday, November 3, 2022, Preview Performance.

Two Potential Performance Schedules

Currently Planned Performance Schedule

Notification

We intend for casting to be completed by June 26, 2022.

We will call those being offered principal roles first.  They are given a limited amount of time to accept or decline the offer before the offer will go to the next candidate. After the principal roles have been filled, those being offered Ensemble roles will be called.  Finally, we will notify via email those whom we are unable to cast.  This process may take up to two weeks, but everyone who auditions will be called or notified via email.

The Pirates of Penzance is one of the most popular operettas and tells the story of Frederic, who was apprenticed as a child, to a band of pirates by his nurse who, being hard of hearing, had mistaken her master's instructions, apprenticing the boy to a “pirate” instead of a “pilot.”  Upon completing his 21st year, Frederic rejoices that he has fulfilled his indentures and is free to return to respectable society.  It turns out, however, that he was born on February 29th in leap year, and he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday … several decades in the future.  By the end of the opera, the pirates, a Major General who knows nothing of military strategy, his large family of beautiful daughters, and the timid constabulary all contribute to a delightful cacophony that can be silenced only by Queen Victoria's name.

Project: Baywatch Watch Host

Seeking a host for "Baywatch Watch," a humorous look at the popular television series that describes the program's characters and themes.

Production states: "To prepare us for what soon became Planet Baywatch in the 90s, the major motifs of David Hasselhof's universe, most importantly that all fat people and those without all-over tans are Evil. Also featured are the bizarre preponderance of midgets, the sad fate that awaits those who answer C. J.'s siren call, and the many subtle variations on the Slow Motion Montage. But don't think that all this heavy analysis precludes discussion of Baywatch's greatest asset: breasts."

Project: Amma’s Ashes, a short film

"Amma's Ashes" was just selected by the Access Sacramento film studio as one of 10 screenplays to be produced this summer for the Place Called Sacramento Film Festival.

We're looking for South Asian women, men and teens, including one genderqueer teen/young adult actor.

There is no pay at this tome, but if you're traveling to Sacramento from out of town for the shoot, we can compensate for gas expenses. We can offer the chance to work with some of Sacramento's top professionals in a down-to-earth and supportive creative environment, as well as a movie credit. The film will be submitted to the festival circuit, and developed as a television series.

Here's a synopsis of "Amma's Ashes, or Mystery at the Sacramento River":

As eldest daughter and executor of her mother’s estate, Kaveri has three days to disperse her mother’s ashes in the Sacramento River, but first she must marshal her ragtag family and solve her mother's mystery.

Project: Untitled Conservative Musical

A Musical Documentary following the making of a musical for off-Broadway. We'll be following the cast and crew through the whole process. Actors cast in the lead roles will be participating in the behind the scenes of the making of the musical as well as the staged musical itself should it come to fruition. Think project greenlight from HBO but focused on a staged musical production.

Our musical itself follows the story of a family that fights back against a super villain intent on world domination.
